Top Ten Tuesday: Blissdom: To Go or Not To Go

So, I’m thinking of taking this whole blogging thing to the next level. Like really thinking about it. I’ve picked out my own domain name and will probably buy it today. I’m researching places to host the blog and people who might be able to help me design it. I’ve been blogging pretty steadily for about a year, and I like it. I really do. And, I’m getting better at it. I’m getting better at writing. I’m getting better at networking. I’m getting better at putting information out there that people actually want to read.

But, if I’m going to do the blog thing “for real,” then, I need to learn more. LOTS MORE. So, I’m considering going to BLISSDOM. Many of the ladies I follow on Twitter and some of my IRL friends went last year. They had a blast, and I was green with jealousy while following their tweets. So, I’m considering going. Any time I consider something, I list the pros and cons. I thought I’d share my current list with you Top Ten Tuesday style and see if you have any to add on either side. Help a girl out please!

PROS
1. I would learn A LOT about blogging and all that can go into it.

2. I would get some much needed girl time.

3. I would get to carpool (hopefully) with OhAmanda, ItsCome2This, TheVioletFig, and SimplyStaci. I know – the Sisterchicks – you’re all jealous now.

4. I would get to meet online friends so they could become IRL friends.

5. I would get to go to Nashville, which is a beautiful city!

6. I would have a GOOD time.

CONS
1. I would be away from my family.

2. I would have to work my tail off at the beginning of the week to get all the work done for my job that would need to be done.

3. I would be out of town part of two weeks in a row as I have a work retreat the week before.

4. Um… That’s all I’ve got on the cons….

So, what do you think? What am I missing? Should I go? Should I take the blog to the next level?

  1. Um, the cons are totally lame. We absolutely will not allow you to use those excuses. πŸ˜‰

    The pros win!!!!!!

I want to meet you. This is my first year going to Blissdom and I’m super excited. πŸ™‚

  2. Yes, yes on Blissdom. You know I will do whatever you need me to do so that you can go. I agree with Alicia’s Homemaking. The pros definitely outway the cons. Pros win!

  3. Go. You need to do something for yourself every once in a while. Forget about the little stuff. It will all work out. Go and have fun!

  4. My vote for you is GO! Life will be waiting for you when you get back. You will learn so much and I’m pretty sure that some stuff you learn could trickle into even helping out with work ideas and writing! Not to mention the F-U-N you will have.Okay, now I’m jealous!

  5. First of all, I think it’s awesome that you feel so positive and confident about your blog! Go you!

Second, I think you should definitely go, if it’s financially feasible and you have your family’s support (which, judging from an above comment, you do!). A blogging conference can definitely add dimension to your perspective and give you not only lots of great information and ideas, but inspiration, too.

    Good luck with your decision!

  6. I agree with Alicia & Mandi.. Con’s are kinda lame. AND… we would have a blast… and I could totally hug your neck. It was a blast last year. A MUST…

    need more help? πŸ™‚

  7. I think it is so cute that Maggie is commenting on your blog. πŸ™‚ I think you should take it to the next level! I am hosting my own and working my way towards “the next level”… however, Blissdom is completely out for me this year. Unless they move it to Seattle or Portland or something! πŸ™‚
