Losing It 2011: It’s Go Time

Are you ready ladies!!! It’s GO TIME!

That’s right! It’s time to quit wishing you could fit in you summer shorts and actually do something about it. Oh, is that just me? Sorry… it’s just that I’ve got this one pair that I can’t get in again.

We’re starting a new Losing It challenge TODAY!

If you’ve been hanging out around this here blog, you may remember when I started the first Losing It challenge back in February of 2010. That was an amazing year. I lost 30 POUNDS! I still remember the day I went under the 200 lb mark. I was SO EXCITED. I felt so much better.

Then, Katie got sicker; I moved twice; Katie died; and I gained almost all of it back. I’m a stress eater. What can I say? So, the weight is back, and I DON’T LIKE IT!

I don’t like the way I feel.
I don’t like the way I look.
I don’t like that my new, cute clothes don’t fit.
I don’t like that I’m tired all the time again.

I DON’T LIKE IT!

I’m going to do something about it. And, you’re all invited to play along. I’m going to need some accountability and some competition. It’s what drives me. So, whomever wants to compete with me or just stay accountable, jump in!

IT’S GO TIME!

Here’s how the contest is going to work.

  1. The contest is for 12 weeks. The first week is TODAY.
  2. You must write a post and link up for 9 of the 12 weeks to be considered participating. If you don’t have a blog, that’s okay! You just need to comment at least nine weeks to let us know how you’re doing.
  3. The participant who loses the largest percentage of weight at the end of the 12 weeks is the winner. You don’t have to tell us actual numbers, just the percentage.

The winner will receive:

  1. $30 Gift Card to Amazon to purchase something to help them on their weight loss journey.
  2. A copy of Cook This, Not That! Easy & Awesome 350-Calorie Meals, a book I’m enjoying on my weight loss journey.

Are you in? You wanna play along?

I’ll start….

My goals for this challenge…

  • Lose 15 pounds
  • Exercise 3 to 4 times a week
  • Drink 8 glasses of water a day

My goals for this week…

  • Lose 3 pounds
  • Exercise 5 times (it’s a long weekend)
  • Drink nothing but water and 1 glass of tea a day
  • Log my calories into My Fitness Pal daily (and try not to don’t go over)

What are your weight loss goals? Link up and let’s hold each other accountable!

  1. Wow. I’m so impressed with your goals. Mine aren’t very grand but with having a new baby I know that if if my goals were too high I’d get discouraged and just quit. I’m starting out very small..:o) What is absolutely DISGUSTING to me is that I lost 20lbs after having said baby. Meaning, not only did I get back to my pre pregnancy weight I lost 20 lbs on top of it!! I hadn’t seen that wonderful number in years!! I barely gained any weight while pregnant. Pregnancy does that for me. However, I get so used to eating what I want while pregnant and know I won’t gain any weight that after I have the baby I go back to eating how I want and the weight comes back. I think I’ve gained almost all of that weight back and I just want to CRY. And it happened so quickly and effortlessly too.

I’m so sorry about Katie. It’s terrible that I don’t know who Katie is. I’ll have to read some older posts to find out what happened.

    • Oh! I need to go back and link to posts about Katie so people know if they weren’t following along… Thanks for that reminder.

Isn’t it SO frustrating how fast the weight comes back on. It’s CRAZY. Takes months to lose it and days to gain it. NUTS I say.

      You can do it girl.

My goals may seem lofty, but if I don’t get it while the getting’s good then I lose my momentum. I need to lose big this week to make me happy. 🙂

      Let’s do this thing!

  2. You go girl! You WILL totally achieve your goals. I am so glad to know I’m not the only stress eater on the planet…used to have friends who were the opposite and they’d be shrinking as I was growing! Love you and can’t wait to read about your progress.

    • The only way I shrink is to work like a maniac. Seriously, you would think with a digestive disorder disease I wouldn’t have to work so hard. LOL!

  3. I’m in! I’m already doing weight watchers, so the extra accountability will be great! My goal for this week is track my food. Excercise at least 2xs this week…and yes, i count swimming with 18mo old cuz all he wants to do is run and jump in the pool…whether I’m ready for him or not!. My last goal is no french fries for the week. They are my kryptonite. My goal for the summer is to longer have a 2 in front of my weight either. I’m 9.8 pounds away from it:) Thanks for leading the way Kathy!

    • Yay Sunny! So excited to have you with us.

The no french fries thing is HUGE. I hadn’t had any since February and ate some by habit the other day. Um, they didn’t even taste that good. Really. So now I feel like I’m not missing much!

We can celebrate being out of the 2s together – with fruit and veggie smoothies.

  4. I will try with you. Long distance support is always nice. My goal this week is to walk 30 min five days and regain at least a quarter of the range of motion and strength in my right hand. We will start there.

  5. This is great! I’m excited to be a new participant this year in your Losing It challenge. My sister Melissa from Simply Mel is the one who encouraged me to join this year. I recently started Weight Watchers and have been blogging about my weight loss journey so now I’ll have something “official” to post about. 🙂 I’m excited to have some extra accountability.

My overall goal is to lose 35 pounds. My short term goal right now is to get down to my 5% loss goal of 185. I’m 7lbs away from that. So this week I will be thrilled to go down to 190 from 192.5. I’ve been really struggling to get out of the 190’s and it’s irritating the crap out of me! I had my second baby 2 months ago so I have some extra baby weight I’m trying to get rid of as well. Looking forward to the challenge. I don’t have a post today because I haven’t been home most of the day. Next week I will have an actual blog post up. Thanks for hosting this! Good luck to all of us!

    • Stephanie –
So excited to have you with us! Congratulations on the Weight Watchers decision. I’ve had great success with it in the past and have MANY friends on it.

You’ve got great goals for the week. I know you can do it!!

  6. Kathy! I totally missed this. But I’m in!! My overall goal is to lose … 93 lbs. (yowsa!) My 12-week goal is to lose 25 lbs. My goal for this week (starting TODAY) is to drink only water and more fruits/veggies than normal. I’ll write a post for Friday, too! Yay!
