Goal for 2011: Reading the Bible in 90 Days

One of my goals for the new year is to read the Bible in 90 days. Yes, that’s the ENTIRE BIBLE IN 90 DAYS. I am either inspired or insane. I’m praying it’s the first one.

Now, I’ve read the Bible. Well, I’ve read most of it. Numbers ALWAYS puts me to sleep. Revelation overwhelms me. I’ve spent much time in the Gospels and in the Old Testament stories we all know and love because of my job. I KNOW those stories. Like seriously KNOW them.

What I don’t know. What I don’t really appreciate is how it all ties together. Why don’t I know that? Well, because I’ve never read it from beginning to end in one fell swoop. I don’t know many people that have really. Reading it from beginning to end is hard. I’ve started before. I got to Numbers. Enough said.

What I’m looking forward to most in this challenge… Oh, it is a challenge. What I’m looking forward to most is seeing how God ties the entire story together. How His hand is over it ALL. How He orchestrated the beginning and is orchestrating the end. That is what I’m looking forward to… seeing the AWESOMENESS of my God.

Now, I’m not crazy enough to attempt this all by myself. No, THAT would be insane. I’ve joined over 700 other excited Bible readers and signed up with Amy at  Mom’s Toolbox. This amazing woman organizes a massive amount of people several times a year and sets them up to win. I have a mentor (Kara from Home With Purpose) who has already emailed me and is praying for me. How amazing! This woman who just knows my name, and nothing else, is already praying for me and my journey. That is SO HUMBLING.

One thing I’ve learned through my Losing It! journey is that when you want to do something hard, tell somebody about it and let them hold you accountable. The GREATEST accountability partners are you, my readers.

So, thank YOU for going on this journey with me. I will share what I learn and how it affects my faith. I know it will, and I CAN’T WAIT!

  2. I’m honored to get to pray for you through this challenge, Kathy! I was in your shoes last July…familiar with much of the Bible but having never read from beginning to end. Seeing how it all fits together, how God orchestrates beginning, end, and everything in between, is just incredible! It’s going to be a fantastic journey!
