I don’t know about you, but the pictures overwhelm me. The pictures of destruction, damage, and things just being plain gone. Like once there was a building. Now there’s not.

It reminds me of the damage Hurricane Andrew did in Florida way back when. I was in college and went on a spring mission trip. So, that would be early nineties. We stopped at McDonald’s and then two hours later we were in a different country. At least we felt like that. It was so devastated. Horrifically so. That’s what the pictures remind me of. Complete devastation.

I need to help. I SERIOUSLY need to help. So, I’ve been researching, and I’ve found several avenues that I’m exploring. I wanted to share them with you. Just in case you, like me, are feeling a burning need to help.

North Point Ministries: My church, North Point Community Church, and all its campuses will be collecting gift cards for the next two Sundays from Target, Walmart, Lowes, and Home Depot. If you want to give me some, I’ll take them in. These will be sent directly to those impacted.

Atlanta Braves: I read a press release that the Atlanta Braves will be collecting supplies to give to the Salvation Army. Drop off spots include the Atlanta area Express Oil Changes. They shared a list of most needed supplies that includes baby items, non-perishable food, and blankets.

Cass Brannan at Calvary Baptist Church: I met Cass at the Orange Conference, and his home church is right in the heart of the destruction, but thankfully intact. His church has offered to assist by providing childcare for volunteers. I will be sending them some videos and other things to help keep kids busy!

Boxes of Hope: Some amazing person is organizing a campaign for boxes for children impacted by the tornado. Similar to Operation Christmas Child boxes, these boxes will be given to families affected by the storms. The Princess and I will be working on some of these this afternoon.

Those are just a few of the ways I’ve found to help. There are MANY MANY more. And, if you are near an area that was affected, you can grab a broom and go help that way. I do recommend finding an organization that has people on the ground and systems in place.
