Losing It! 12.17.10

Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming!

Did I get you excited? How many of you had Christmas parties to attend this week? Hmmmmm…? How’d we do? Hmmmm…? I had my office party and my child’s party at school. I tend to stick more in my mouth at her school. What is up with that?

I was supposed to have a lovely dinner with church friends on Wednesday night, but it decided to seriously ICE in the ATL. My hubby fishtailed it all the way home, and then we stayed home. It was a nervous night as I watched on Twitter and Facebook waiting for everyone to get home safely. Some were stuck for over four hours! I was exhausted by the time the night was over just watching and praying. Social Media does add more drama to life. That’s for sure.

I digress… How are we all doing on the CONTEST? Remember, we’re seeing who can maintain or lose the most through the holidays.

I lost the pound I had gained last week. I’m wondering if I was just holding on to some water. So, I’m at a total of 2 pounds lost for the contest. Now, I don’t want to win the prize so somebody better beat me! Come on girls!!!!

Link up and let us know how you’re doing. How’s the exercising going? Are you getting enough water? What’s your favorite trick for not eating at the holiday parties?

Hello Losing It! Ladies! How is everyone doing this week?

Thanks to all who are participating in the little contest we’ve got going here at Losing It! It’s great to see everyone working hard to at least maintain through the holidays! So proud of you all.

I went the wrong direction this week. Went up a pound. **Sigh** I know it’s because I haven’t exercised in two weeks. This morning was the first morning I didn’t spend the first awake moments coughing so I’m thinking I might have finally kicked this sinus infection. Whoop! That means I can get back on the exercise program, since I can now take a full breath and all.

How are you doing with the holiday parties? I went to my first Christmas party last night and ate too much. Yep, I did. Now, fortunately, most of what I ate was of the savory category and little was of the sweet category. However, it was too much food. My Sweetie on the other hand did amazing and just had a small plate. Proud of you Sweetie! I will say that I refrained from trying one of EVERY sweet available, which is what I would have done last year. However, I ate to eat and not because I was hungry. Not proud of that.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day! I shall keep on keeping on.

In other news, I saw some video of me from last Christmas. Oh my! It’s amazing to look at your face in the mirror and then look back at when you were 28 pounds heavier. Ya, I’ve lost weight. Whew! Insane difference. I can’t wait until I’ve lost even more. Then I won’t even recognize myself!

So, how are all of you doing? Good week? Link up friends!

Ladies! How did you do this week?

I was sick a good bit of the week – sinus infection – so nothing tasted good. Therefore, I lost two pounds! Whoop!

Nothing like nasal drip and congestion to take the weight off LOL!

Don’t forget about the contest going on! Be sure to link up or comment to be counted this week.

The day after Thanksgiving… the best time to talk about weight loss – right? But, we need to talk about it. If not losing, then maintaining. So, how did everybody do this week? I’ve been at Disney World and then the beach with the extended family. MANY opportunities for really good food.

And, I didn’t deny myself. Not really. The thing is….I don’t WANT to eat like I used to. It makes me sick to my stomach to eat the way I did a year ago. It truly does. I didn’t get popcorn once while at the parks. I didn’t get one Mickey ice cream bar. Both of those were a daily purchase at last year’s trip to the parks. I only had one caramel apple, and only because it’s my favorite thing from Main Street. I ate one big meal each day and then kinda snacked around it. That worked for me. As far as exercise went – well, um, I was at Disney World. There is A LOT of walking involved with just being there. A LOT of walking.

Then, at the beach with the family, I ate a decent dinner every night. I didn’t deny myself. Again though, I didn’t want to eat as much as I did last year. My breakfast and lunch were pretty small – this is mostly due to the fact that it is HOT in Florida. And, heat makes me not hungry. I seriously don’t want to eat much at all during the day. As for exercise, my sister-in-law, G, kept me exercising. We walked for an hour on the beach EVERY morning. I’m not talking a leisurely stroll. G is a spin instructor – as in those crazy bike riding classes. So, to say she is fit is an understatement. She went a little easy on me, but we walked at a good clip. It was great to have her keeping me exercising even while on vacation. Thanks G!

My Walking Partner and I

Since I’m at the beach, I can’t weigh myself. However, I don’t feel like I’ve gained anything. We shall see when I get home this weekend. I’ll let you know where I stand next week.

How is everyone else doing on the CONTEST? We had several ladies with loses last week! Way to go gals! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to give the grand prize to someone who LOST weight. And, I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE for EVERYONE to be eligible for the second prize. Wouldn’t that be amazing!

So, link up ladies and let’s support one another.

Soooooo…. How are you doing? Did everyone weigh themselves today? I know I don’t usually ask that, but with the CONTEST and all. You did read about the CONTEST right? Be sure you do.

Also make sure you link up this week (or comment below) to make sure that you are eligible to win the prizes.

We are currently hanging out with the Mouse in Orlando (I know -again -but remember we didn’t get to finish our last trip because the Princess got the flu.) so I’m doing my best. With all the walking, perhaps one Mickey bar a day will be okay???? I do know that before I left town I hadn’t moved an ounce either up or down.

So, tell me how you’re doing and I’ll come back an comment on Sunday! I hope to hear about lots of losses!!

Losing It! 11 12 10

Okay Losing It! Ladies. It’s time to get serious. The evil holidays are upon us. I’ve already baked more in the last few weeks than I have all year. It’s time to buckle down. It’s time to truly pay attention to everything that goes in your mouth. It’s time to MAINTAIN!

Notice I didn’t say lose. Seriously, who’s worried about losing right now? Well, actually I’m sort of trying. But more than losing, I’m trying to MAINTAIN!

So, I thought I’d give us an incentive. A little motivation. A contest if you will. Are you ready? Are you with me?

Here’s the rules:

  • The contest will run from today, November 12, 2010 through Friday, January 7, 2011. That’s the whole holiday season – all 8 weeks of it.
  • You must link up or give an update in the comments section for 6 of the 8 weeks to be considered eligible for the competition. (See, that would be the accountability part.)
  • There will be one grand prize winner. That will be the person who loses the largest percentage of their weight during this eight weeks. That means you need to go weigh yourself TODAY!
  • Anyone who either maintains or loses during the eight week period will be put in a drawing for a second prize. If you maintain during the holidays, you deserve a chance at a prize!

The prizes:

Grand Prize – a $25 Gift Card to Target and a this beautiful necklace from The Mercy House Shop

Second Prize – a $25 Gift Card to Target

So ladies are you with me? Are you taking the challenge? Are you going to keep it off throughout the holidays? Our first big test is coming up in just a few weeks. Be prepared ladies. Be prepared.

We can do it ladies! Decide now that you will not be heavier on January 7th. Decide now that you will be accountable for all that you do over the next 8 weeks. Decide now that it really does matter what you eat during the holidays. Decide now to not consider those calories freebies because it’s a family gathering. Decide now ladies!!

Be sure to link up or make a comment if you intend to participate. Let’s help each other make it through the next eight weeks!

I’m late getting things up today because I am working like a crazy woman. Got so much going on. The most important thing going on is the 30 Day Giving Challenge. Have you checked out all the bloggers giving this month? AMAZING. Be sure you stop by my giveaway post today and try to win a necklace while giving to The Mercy House at the same time.

Now, on to the weight loss, which I’d rather not talk about. Seriously, did I mention that it’s a crazy week. May I also mention that I’m hormonal. May I also mention that it has finally gotten cold enough to get my bake on. I LOVE to bake when it’s cool. I love to eat when it’s cool. I think I would be a great bear. Hmmm…

So, the weight went up a bit this week. Some of it is water weight, but not all of it. **Sigh**

However, tomorrow is another day. And, tomorrow I can do better. And, tomorrow I can exercise. That’s the key. I’ve GOT TO EXERCISE. It makes me feel better. It makes it easier not to eat somehow. Not sure how that works. Exercise! Exercise! Exercise!

How did you do this week?

Oh, and I’m working on a little contest to get us through the holidays. Thinking it through this week and will announce next week. You’re going to want to participate. I PROMISE!

Hello ladies! How is everyone doing? I’m sure you’re doing great. I just know you are! Have you been able to avoid the fall sweets so far? I’m doing okay, but I keep baking. It gets into October, and I MUST cook/bake. It’s not cool here yet, but that hasn’t stopped me!

I’m a bit frustrated this week. I’ve been working out and walking and eating within my calorie allotment and I HAVE NOT LOST ONE POUND! Now, I lost four last week. So, I guess I shouldn’t be too upset. And, my butt is tightening back up. And, my legs and arms are a bit stronger. BUT THE SCALE HASN’T CHANGED! And, that, my friends, just ticks me off.

Alas, I will keep on going. I’ve discovered that I like the treadmills at the Y. I wasn’t very fond of the one we used to have at home, but the ones at the gym, I like. So, I’m trying to get over there most days. It’s kinda handy as it’s next to my office. The only struggle is remembering to take clothes. I know, rough life right?

Oh, I wanted to share a picture with you.

That’s me, being attacked on the lawn by three of my littlest nephews. We were chasing each other all over the yard, and they “caught” me. That’s right! We were chasing each other!! Friends, last fall, I wasn’t able to play chase. I was too big. I was too tired. I was missing life. Now that I’ve lost 28 pounds, I can play again. I can run and chase and fall and laugh. It’s wonderful.

It’s an image of times like that that keeps me going back to the Y. It keeps me counting my calories. It keeps me working hard so that I can play chase with them until they are too big to care if Aunt Kathy is in the yard or not.

How are you doing this week?

Losing It! 10.22.10

I’m in sunny Florida (well, I think it’s sunny, I haven’t opened the hotel curtains yet), and I’ve already put in my 45 minutes on the treadmill. That’s right ladies! I got up, on my own, in a hotel, and got on the treadmill. I can honestly say that this is the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I’ve used a hotel fitness center. FIRST TIME!

The question becomes, what took me so long? I mean, I’m almost 39. That’s like twenty years of adulthood when I could have been taking better care of myself wasted. WASTED! But, no more. No more wasting my time. We’ve got a finite amount of time on this planet. Don’t WASTE it!

Can you see that I’ve gotten fired up again! Whoop! I AM going to get this body in shape (as old as it is). I am AM going to eat healthier. I AM going to be able to dance at my daughter’s wedding. I AM going to do this!

I got TOTALLY back on the Losing It! train this past Monday. Here’s what I’ve been doing this week…

  • NO processed sugar (except for the two packets in my tea in the AM). This basically means no desserts, sweets, treats etc.
  • Counting calories – Whatever goes in my mouth gets recorded (this is harder than you think)
  • Tons of water – like up in the night to pee amounts of water
  • Exercise EVERY day – I walked every day and twice did strength training on the machines at the Y

You want to know the end result of all that work. Just five days later, I ….

  • Feel good again (Haven’t really felt good since the cruise)
  • LOST FOUR POUNDS – this week! Now, that’s just because I shocked my body and started regulating everything again. I won’t get that big a drop next week. However, the best thing is I am now back to my pre-move weight. This is the lowest I’ve been on this journey.

So, all told, since I began Losing It! in February, I’ve lost a total of 28 pounds.

Even more exciting to me is that even after all the stress of this fall, it’s still off. Whoop! Whoop!

My new goal is to have an 8 in the middle of my weight by Thanksgiving. My over the top goal is to have lost a full 35 pounds by Thanksgiving. There’s something about being able to say, “Why thanks, yes, I’ve lost 35 pounds.” to all my relatives. It just sounds good doesn’t it?

So, how are you doing? Let’s get excited about this weight loss journey. What are you doing to improve your time here on the planet?

Losing It! 10 15 10

I walked this morning for the first time in over a month. Like really, that was the first time I’ve done any physical exercise since My Sweetie’s back went out. We’ve been having some rough times over at the House of Hills, and I just didn’t feel like I could leave my little family unattended. I felt like I always had to be there. Just in case. I’m a “just in case” person. Like seriously. It’s an issue.

But, today, I walked. And my body rejoiced. At least I think it was rejoicing. It was so stinking cold out at 5AM that part of my body was just numb. But the other part, it was rejoicing. My thighs and butt are kinda achey right now, but in a good way. In a “wow, you got off your fat behind and did something” way. That’s good. I had forgotten how good that feels.

I’m hoping it feels good enough today so that when the alarm goes off tomorrow at 5AM (yes, on a Saturday) I’ll get up and do it again. I’m also kinda dreaming about going to the Y, maybe lifting a few weights. Whoop! My body will be singing (or screaming) then. Whoop!

What makes your body rejoice? Are you listening to your body? It will talk to you. It will tell you what you need. And just so you know. That voice telling you that you need that red velvet cupcake. That’s not your body. I know this from personal experience as I enjoyed a massive red velvet cupcake last night. My body was not so much pleased with me.

How are you doing on your Losing It! challenge?
