21 Day Fix : Day 11

The 21 Day Fix continues! Come along for the ride.

Today was the 2nd to last day doing the early carpool run for camp. Let me tell you… having this shift really messed with my schedule. But, it was worth it as the girl is having a BLAST!

Meal 1: 1 Red
Shakeology (nothing added)

And in the car on the way to the studio no less. Let’s just say it was a rather rushed morning.

21 Day Fix Day 11 Meal 1

Meal 2: 1 Red 1 Purple  1 Yellow
Greek yogurt
Strawberries
Skinny Pop

Thankfully I brought snacks to work.

Meal 3: 1 Red 1 Yellow 2 Tsp
2 Eggs
Oatmeal with Almond Butter

21 Day Fix Day 11 Meal 3

Meal 4: 1 Red
2 Hard Boiled Eggs

Yes, I seem to eat a lot of eggs. They’re just so handy and quick. I should probably reign that in.

21 Day Fix Day 2

Meal 5: 1 Red 2 Green 1 Purple .5 Yellow  2 Tsp
Shakeology
1 Cup Berries
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Cup Spinach
1 Cup Kale
2 Tsp peanut butter powder

Got my workout in late today (because of the aforementioned crazy morning) so had my packed shakeology later in the day. It really is my after I sweat treat. Excuse the sweaty selfie. We take a lot of those in the challenge group and share them with each other on our private Facebook group. BEST part of doing this 21 Day Fix thing – the Facebook group of awesome ladies I’ve “met.”

21 Day Fix Day 11 Meal 5

Totals for the day:
2 Green (short 3 – ya, that’s not good. Did I mention the bad start to the day?)
2 Purple (short 1)
5 Red
2.5  Yellow (short 1.5)
0 Blue (short 1)
0 Orange (short 1)

Workout: Elliptical and Weight Machines at the gym.
I realized at about 6pm that I hadn’t worked out. (I told you. Nutty day.) So, I had two choices. I could change clothes and do something about it. Or, I could just ignore it all together. I decided to do something, and I headed to the gym. Sometimes it’s nice NOT to do the DVDs that come with the 21 Day Fix. I mean, I do like Autumn and all she’s taught me, but you can only listen to her talk for so much. So, off to the gym I went. I did 25 minutes on the elliptical and got my heart rate to a nice place. Then, I went upstairs and did the weight machines. I worked. Believe me.

21 Day Fix Day 11 Workout At Gym

Takeaways:

  • Don’t ever give up. Ever. This is a journey. And, a crazy day being either at work or with family does not excuse you from taking care of yourself. (Yes, I am writing this down so that my own words can come back to haunt me on a day I want to give up.)
  • Always have a sweat rag. Always.

The 21 Day Fix Series (June 2015)

21 Day Fix : Day 10

I’m blogging my way through the 21 day fix. I’m almost halfway there!

Here’s day 10 –

Meal 1: 1 Red 2 Green 1 Purple .5 Yellow  2 Tsp
Shakeology
1 Cup Berries
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Cup Spinach
1 Cup Kale
2 Tsp peanut butter powder

Pretty sure I have a packed Shakeology addiction at this point. It’s my favorite after my morning workout. Or evening workout. Any workout really.

21 Day Fix Day 10 Meal 1

Meal 2: 1 Red 1 Yellow
2 Eggs
Sandwich Thin

Imagine there is twice as much here. Forgot to take the picture before I started eating.

21 Day Fix Day 10 Meal 2

Meal 3: 1 Blue 1 Red 1 Yellow1 Orange 2 Green 2 Tsp
Taco Mac Monterey Chicken Salad

So, Maggie was not feeling great this morning so I took her into theater camp late. In all the crazy of the morning – essential oiling her up, getting her food, making sure she was going to be good – I FORGOT TO PACK FOOD FOR ME! The plan was to drop her at camp and then stay down near camp and work in Starbucks until it was over because the drive back wasn’t worth it. I LEFT THE HOUSE FOR A PLANNED FOUR HOURS WITHOUT ANY FOOD! This is the first time I’ve made this mistake since starting the 21 Day Fix.

So, rather than panicking (okay after I panicked for a minute), I thought about what was near and decided to get a salad at Taco Mac. The Monterey Chicken Salad seemed doable. With a vinaigrette dressing on the side, it really hit the spot.

21 Day Fix Day 10 Meal 3

And, of course I had to celebrate National Iced Tea Day. I mean. I do love my tea.

21 Day Fix Day 10 Meal 3a

Meal 4: 1 Yellow
Skinny Pop

The salad for lunch was VERY FILLING. So much so that I hardly ate much the rest of the day. This sounds good, but actually left me short on some of my containers. Well, that’s if I counted the salad containers right. A little snack for dinner.

21 Day Fix Day 10 Meal 4

Meal 5: 1 Red 1 Purple
Light Ricotta
Peach
Cinnamon

And, of course, I ended the evening with my favorite.

21 Day Fix Day 10 Meal 5

Totals for the day:
4 Green (short 1)
2 Purple (short 1)
4 Red (short 1)
3.5  Yellow (short .5)
1 Blue
1 Orange
4 Tsp (short 1)

Workout: Lower Fix (3o min DVD) I have to use the lighter weights on the lower fix because if I don’t it puts too much pressure on my knees. Not as painful as last week so that’s a win.

21 Day Fix Day 10 Lower Fix

Takeaways:

  • There is no need to panic when you leave the house without food. You can make wise choices when you go out. It’s all about thinking it through.
  • You will start to see food in terms of containers. I looked at the chicken on my salad at Taco Mac and was like “That’s not even a full red worth of chicken!” Of course, there was also bacon.

21 Day Fix : Day 9

We’re in week two of the 21 Day Fix, and while it would be easy to give up at this point, I’m not going to. Why? Because it’s working! I feel better, fitter, stronger, healthier. And, did you see I LOST FOUR POUNDS last week. While it’s not all about the weight loss (blah, blah, blah) it really does feel good to see the number on the scale go down.

So, we push on!

Here’s how Day 9 went down.

Meal 1: 1 Red 2 Green 1 Purple .5 Yellow  2 Tsp
Shakeology
1 Cup Berries
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Cup Spinach
1 Cup Kale
2 Tsp peanut butter powder

This time I remembered the nut butter, and that TOTALLY masked the kale. Looks nasty. Tastes GOOD!

21 Day Fix Day 9 Meal 1

Meal 2: 1 Red
2 Hard Boiled Eggs

I cook eggs 18 at a time so they’re ready in the fridge whenever I need them. Seriously a good idea to have these around when you’re doing 21 Day Fix. Especially, if you have to get 5 red in like I do.  (The number of containers you get in each color is based on your weight at the beginning of the 21 Days.)

21 Day Fix Day 2

Meal 3: .5 Blue 1 Red 1 Yellow
Grilled chicken sausage
Brown Rice
Feta Cheese

21 Day Fix Day 9 Meal 3

Meal 4: 2 Green 1 Purple 1 Blue
Green Smoothie

Meal 5: 1 Yellow 2 Tsp
Oatmeal

Meal 6: 1 Red 2 Green 1 Orange 1 Yellow
Lettuce, peppers, mushrooms
Grilled chicken
Sunflower Seeds and Dressing
Toast (Not pictured)

21 Day Fix Day 9 Meal 6

Totals for the day:
6 Green (over 1)
2 Purple (short 1)
4 Red (short 1)
3.5  Yellow (short .5)
1.5 Blue (over .5)
1 Orange
4 Tsp (short 1)

Workout: Upper Fix (3o min DVD) This might be my favorite one. It makes me feel strong because I can do most of what Autumn is doing. I don’t have to do all the modifications. Of course, I’m only use 5 pound weights, but I’m not using the 2 pound weights! And yes, we use Starbucks cups ALL THE TIME in the HOH. They go through the dishwasher (straws too) really well. There’s that little tidbit for you.

21 Day Fix Day Day 9 Upper Fix

Takeaways:

  • The hardest thing for me is keeping going after I achieve a goal. I wanted to lose weight. I’m doing so. However, just because I lost weight last week doesn’t give me permission to slack off this week. I always want to slack off after I have a good week. So, these next couple days are important. Must keep working.
  • This was the first day I was actually hungry and discontent most of the day. I think it’s because I didn’t get my Shakeology in within twenty minutes of my workout. If I don’t workout and then refuel immediately, it throws me off for the whole day. Because it’s summer, and our schedule is wonky, that means I have to time finishing my workout just as my family is rising. The Vitamix is awesome, but it is LOUD, and we have a small house. Nobody wants to wake up because they hear mom making a smoothie in the kitchen. Also, I love Shakeology.

The 21 Day Fix Series (June 2015)

21 Day Fix : Day 8

Thanks for coming on my 21 Day Fix journey with me! We’re on Day 8, and it’s weigh in day!

I LOST FOUR POUNDS THIS WEEK!

What? What? That’s crazy to me. This is just what my body needed to kick-start my metabolism again. For those of you just joining us, before I started the 21 Day Fix, I had already lost 20 pounds working out at the gym and making better eating choices. However, I had hit a plateau. Well, that’s gone! I know I won’t lose four pounds again this week, but it’s great to be a huge step closer to the magic number I was hoping to hit on this challenge!

Here’s what I ate on Day 8:

Meal 1: 1 Red 2 Green 1 Purple .5 Yellow
Shakeology
1 Cup Berries
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Cup Spinach
1 Cup Kale

Yes! I put kale in the smoothie! And, I could almost not taste it. I forgot my almond butter. If I’d have had the almond butter, we would have been totally kale taste free but with all the nutrients. I love the nutrients in kale. I HATE the taste of kale.

21 Day Fix Day 8 Meal 1

Meal 2: 1 Green 1 Red 1 Yellow 2 Tsp
Baked Fajitas
Brown Rice

This travels and warms up well at the office. Just an FYI.

21 Day Fix Day 8 Meal 2

Meal 3: 1 Green 1 Purple
Green Smoothie

I made a batch of my green smoothies yesterday so I could easily get a few more veggies in at the office. These are pretty good, and I LOVE to drink them in the summer. They are so refreshing. Based on the recipe and the fact that one batch makes four mason jars, I’m going with one green (veggie) and one purple (fruit) per jar.

21 Day Fix Day 8 Meal 3

Meal 4: 1 Red
2 Hard Boiled Eggs

Pretend there are two eggs in the picture. Sometimes, you forget to snap a picture before you start eating. Hard boiled eggs travel REALLY well and are a quick and easy red (protein).

21 Day Fix Day 8 Meal 4

Meal 3: 1 Red 2 Yellow  1 Tsp
2 Eggs
2 Pieces Toast

This is called the lazy meal, but it gets the food in. And, we obviously need a new toaster oven. We got ours for a wedding gift. That was in 1998. I’m thinking it’s time.

21 Day Fix Day 8 Meal 5

Meal 6: 1 Purple 1 Red
Peach
Light Ricotta Cheese
Cinnamon

Yes, I could eat this to end my day every night. LOVE IT! One thing I have discovered. There is a definite difference between brand name light ricotta cheese and store brand. Do yourself a favor. Buy the brand name. The store brand will end up in the trash. Trust me on this one.

21 Day Fix Day 10 Meal 5

Totals for the day:
4 Green (short 1)
3 Purple
5 Red
3.5  Yellow (short .5)

Workout: Total Body Cardio Fix (3o min DVD)
This one killed me last week. I was sore for days. That did not happen this week. So, either I was lazy (and judging by the dripping that was happening I don’t think so) or my muscles are getting used to working in a different way. We’re hoping for the latter.

21 Day Fix Day 8 Workout

Takeaways:

  • The program works. Obviously. Four pounds. One week. Wow!
  • My body is getting stronger. My muscles are stretching. That’s cool.

The 21 Day Fix Series (June 2015)

21 Day Fix : Day 7

It’s day 7 of the 21 Day Fix! I made it through the first week!

Weigh in day is tomorrow. I know I’ve lost weight, but I’m curious to see how much. And, actually, the most important thing is that I feel good, and I’m getting stronger.

Meal 1: 1 Red 1 Purple .5 Yellow  2 Tsp
Shakeology
1 Cup Berries
1 Cup Almond Milk
2 tsp Almond Butter

Still out of spinach. I might should go to the store.

21 Day Fix Day 7 Meal 1

Meal 4: 1 Purple 1 Red
Strawberries
Greek Yogurt

I’ve decided this may be one of my go-tos when I’m going to be out and about. Very easy to transport if you’ve got access to a fridge or cooler. Today, I enjoyed it at church!

21 Day Fix Day 7 Meal 2

CHEAT ALERT: So, I didn’t have enough snacks with me. We went from church to running errands, and by the time we got to Sprouts I was starving. I haven’t been starving much during this whole thing, and it made me very grumpy. So, I had a few slices of salami that we had purchased at the deli. Then, we rushed home so I could eat.

Meal 3: 1 Red 2 Yellow  1 Tsp

2 Eggs
2 Pieces Toast

21 Day Fix Day 8 Meal 5

Meal 4: 1 Green 1 Red 1 Yellow 2 Tsp

Workout: Gym Time with Maggie and Yoga Fix (30 min vide0)
It was great to be back in the gym sweating it out, even if I was watching Germany totally destroy their opponent on the soccer field. I realized that I missed the hard sweat I could get from the elliptical. In addition, I didn’t have to watch my knees the whole time I was working out. So much of the 21 Day Fix routines are high impact, and I just can’t do those fully yet (or maybe ever) because I’ve got such weak knees. So, Mags and I had a good workout at the gym. Then, since my muscles were nice and warmed up, we came home and I did the yoga video (Maggie declined). It felt awesome to stretch everything out.

21 Day Fix Day 7 Workout

Takeaways:

  • Sundays are going to be the hardest day for me. I’ve got to prepare better.
  • I’ve been avoiding the gym because I didn’t want to overwork my body, but the five months of hitting the cardio machines almost every day has made my body stronger than I realized. I can do both the gym and the videos, just a in a combination that won’t tax me.

21 Day Fix : Day 6

I’m blogging my way through the 21 Day Fix. Come along on the journey. Here’s Day 6!

Meal 1: 1 Red 1 Yellow 1 Green 1 Tsp
2 Eggs
1 Piece Toast
Veggies

21 Day Fix Day 6 Meal 1

Meal 2: 1 Red 1 Purple .5 Yellow  2 Tsp
Shakeology
1 Cup Berries
1 Cup Almond Milk
2 tsp Almond Butter

We were out of spinach. That made me sad. I like getting a serving of veggies in without even tasting them.

21 Day Fix Day 3 Meal 1

Meal 3: 3 Green 1 Red  1 Orange 1 Blue 1 Tsp
Salad (3 green worth)
Grilled Chicken
Feta Cheese
Almonds (1/2 Orange)
Dressing (1/2 Orange)

We were at a retreat all day with our Mission Trip group. I knew they were having Subway Sandwich box lunches. I also knew that wasn’t going to be good for the 21 Day Fix. So, I brought my own lunch.

21 Day Fix Day 6 Meal 3a

It was yummy.

21 Day Fix Day 6 Meal 3b

Meal 4: 1 Purple 1 Red
Strawberries
Greek Yogurt

Yes, I was eating this in the car after our fun adventures on the retreat. No excuses people. If you have a cooler, you can bring it with you! And, yes, I ate it all before driving out of the parking lot. No eating and driving.

21 Day Fix Day 6 Meal 4

Meal 5: 2 Purple 2 Yellow
2 servings of oatmeal
2 servings of fruit

Workout: Tromping through the woods with my Mission Trip team
Maggie and I are going on a mission trip at the end of the month, and today we had team bonding that included tromping through the woods in June in GA. It’s hot y’all. I sweated through all my clothes and got my heart rate up a couple of times. There was no energy for a workout when I got home. But, I’m pretty sure I got one in the woods.

Mission Trip Retreat Selfie

Takeaways:

  • You can stay on this program even when you’re going to be out and about all day. It just takes planning, a cooler and lots of ice packs. Even more if you’re in GA. Just be prepared to talk about why you’re not eating what everyone else is.
  • I’m beginning to love my Shakeology. Like truly. I was so bummed that there was no spinach in the house this morning. You can hide so much in there. So much.

The 21 Day Fix Series (June 2015)

Mission Trip Retreat

Remember how I told you a few weeks ago that the HOH ladies were heading on a mission trip!? Well, it’s almost time! So, today, the group had a retreat to do a little planning and have some bonding time.

I’ll tell you the truth. I was looking forward to seeing everyone. I was NOT looking forward to the part of the day that went with this phrase from the email about the retreat, “Be dressed to be outside most of the day.” Ya, it’s June in GA friends. Outside is not where I want to be unless I’m next to a pool with a cold tea in my hand. And, we were going to be at a local church known for the MASSIVE ropes course and Zip Lines they had on their property. Ya, I don’t do heights as a rule.

Pretty bad attitude, right? Terrible really. Here we are about to go on a mission trip with these people, and I’m all cranky about being in the heat and outside and high up. I knew waking up this morning that I had a bad attitude, and prayed my way through the morning. I didn’t want Maggie to see it, and I really didn’t want to have it.

Here’s what God whispered to me. “You’re over-thinking it. Don’t you think I’ve got this? I love you. I’ll take care of it.”

So, I prepped Maggie and my food. I packed a cooler with TONS of water. I packed a backpack to include sunscreen and bug spray. And, I decided to take my good camera.

And, I’m so glad I did.

Because I got pictures that prove that God’s got it. He is bigger than our greatest worry, and He will teach you something even standing outside on a field in GA in June with sweat streaming down your back.

He’ll teach you that your attitude is mirrored in your child’s. And, when you choose joy, so will she.

Mission Trip Retreat Joy

He’ll teach you that young minds have great ideas too. And, if you give them a minute, they’ll come up with an awesome plan.

Mission Trip Retreat - Strategy

He’ll teach you to stop talking and listen so that you can accomplish a task as a group. Even a good leader needs to follow sometimes. That’s how you maintain your balance.

IMG_2796

He’ll remind you that truly there is no bond quite like that of mother and daughter, and that every minute together is a special one. (And, I mean, I had to take a selfie so I could tell the Internets what we were up to.)

Mission Trip Retreat Selfie

He’ll show you once again that the child you birthed is created by Him and for His glory. She has skills I don’t, and I need to remember and appreciate those. (For real, she solved this problem in seconds and walked us through what to do. She was amazed that she was the only one who had the idea. “Mom, wasn’t everyone thinking the same thing?” Um, no Maggie, they weren’t.)

Mission Trip Retreat Tarp

He’ll help you tackle your fears so that you can help the group succeed. (I was seriously terrified of swinging on this silly little rope.)

Mission Trip Retreat Platform

He’ll show you that yes, He can give your child the bravery she needs to actually get on the swing and go up in the air…. even if she doesn’t go far. (I was so proud of her.)

Mission Trip Retreat Maggie Swing

He’ll give me the exact circumstance I need to get over my personal fear of heights and enjoy His creation while enjoying a lovely breeze in my face.

Mission Trip Retreat Kathy Swing

I had a great time today, and I learned a lot, both about Maggie and I and about our fellow team mates. Most importantly, I was reminded that God’s got it.

I don’t have to worry, because He is in control.

He asks us to only be prepared and do our part. He’ll take care of the rest.

God’s got it!

Maggie and I still need additional support for our trip.
We’re a few hundred dollars short.

21 Day Fix : Day 5

The 21 Day Fix journey continues here at the House of Hills. It’s just me doing it so far, but that may change. We’ll see. Let me tell you about Day 5.

Meal 1: 1 Red
2 Hard Boiled Eggs

I got up early again today to get some work done so went ahead and fueled my body and got a couple of cups of water in. Previous to the 21 Day Fix, I would have just waited until after I worked out to eat. But, I can’t get all my food in that way.

21 Day Fix Day 2

Meal 2: 1 Red 1 Purple .5 Yellow 1 Green 2 Tsp
Shakeology
1 Cup Berries
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Cup spinach
2 tsp Almond Butter

Putting all this in with the Shakeology got in A LOT of my containers. And, it tasted REALLY GOOD!

21 Day Fix Shakeology_02

Meal 3: 1 Red  1 Purple  2 Yellow 1 Tsp
2 Eggs
2 Pieces of wheat toast
Cantaloupe

I’d been craving dippy eggs and toast and then remembered that there was some wheat bread in the freezer. Oh. Happy. Day! Pretty sure I cheated when I put a little bit of Maggie’s margarine spread on there. Just being honest.

21 Day Fix Day 5 Meal 3

Meal 4: 1 Orange 1 Blue
Almonds
Mozzarella Cheese

I’m pretty sure I messed up the system by putting whole almonds in the Orange. I think it’s only supposed to be chopped, but I was hungry and had to go pick up Maggie so I needed something portable.

21 Day Fix Day 5 Meal 4

Meal 5: 3 Green 1 Red 1 Yellow .5 Orange 1 Tsp
Chicken
Brown Rice
Salad
Peppers

21 Day Fix Day 5 Meal 5

Meal 6: 1 Purple 1 Red
Peach
Light Ricotta Cheese
Cinnamon

Yes. Again. I love it!

21 Day Fix Day 3 Meal 6

Totals for the day:
4 Green (short 1)
3 Purple
5 Red
3.5  Yellow (short .5)
1 Blue
1.5 Orange (over .5)
4 Tsp (short 1) However, I’m sure that extra 1 was probably in there somewhere.

Workout: Cardio Fix (3o min DVD)
So…. this one kicked my tail. Dripping sweat. It’s going to be a good one. I had to do quite a few modifications to help my knees. And, there are burpees. Ya, those.

21 Day Fix Day 5 Workout Cardio Fix

Takeaways:

  • Getting as much as possible in the Shakeaology is the key I think. I’m pretty sure I might even be able to get some kale in there and not taste it. Gonna pick some up.
  • Speaking of kale, I’m thinking of making some of my green smoothies for next week. They are so refreshing in the summer and will get in a fruit and a veggie for the day.
  • I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I kinda miss the gym. SHOCKER! I won’t say I’m enjoying the workouts, but I don’t hate them. I’ll probably like them better the second time around because I’ll know what to expect. However, I miss the adrenaline rush that comes with finishing several miles on the elliptical and being drenched in sweat. I haven’t been able to work that hard on these videos because they are so high impact. My knees won’t take too much bouncing around. I’d developed a routine at the gym that was pretty low impact. I’m going to see if I can get a trip to the elliptical in soon.

The 21 Day Fix Series (June 2015)

21 Day Fix : Day 4

I’m blogging my 21 Day Fix journey. And, we’re on day four!! It’s been quite the journey already.

First, let me say that I noticed today that I feel good. Like really good. I’m not hungry. I’m not tired. I’m not cranky. I just feel good. Now, the Beachbody people would say that’s the Shakeology working its magic. And, they may be right. That stuff is PACKED with nutrients. I’m know it has something to do with the fact that I’m now getting enough food. I think my coach, Julie, was right yesterday when she said that I may not have been eating enough, well at least enough of the right things.

The other thing that I find interesting is that I have not craved chocolate in like two days. Now, people, this is MAJOR. I LOVE chocolate. I do get a chocolate taste with the Shakeology because I of course ordered the chocolate flavor. But, let’s be real. It doesn’t take like actual say Godiva chocolate. Or even Hershey’s for that matter.

Just a few observations.

Here’s what I ate on Day 4!

Meal 1: 1 Red
2 Hard Boiled Eggs

I got up and ate these BEFORE I did my workout having learned that I need to get some fuel in there and get the eating started earlier.

21 Day Fix Day 2

Meal 2: 1 Red .5 Purple .5 Yellow

This is one of my FAVORITE recipes. I make it for my team meetings every once in awhile. I knew right away it was a recipe I wanted to do during the 21 Day Fix. There were plenty of leftovers so I’ll be enjoying it for the next week.

21 Day Fix Day 4 Meal 5

Meal 6: 1 Purple 1 Red

Yes, this is the same thing I had last night. I seriously looked forward to eating it ALL DAY! So good. So good.

Workout: Pilates Fix (3o min DVD)
This one really helped stretch out everything. I was still REALLY sore today. However, not as bad as yesterday. I’m going to have to watch my back on this one and make sure that I do the movements the exact way she does. It gets a little tricky.

21 Day Fix Day 4 Workout

Takeaways:

  • Still didn’t finish my containers, but I’m getting the hang of it better. I got some great advice tonight to add more things to my Shakeology. So, I’m going to try that tomorrow. The goal being to get lots of green stuff in there without tasting it.
  • I’m feeling good and don’t want to quit. THAT my friends IS A WIN!

21 Day Fix : Day 3

I’m blogging my 21 Day Fix journey! Here’s Day 3.

I went into this day already learning a lot from Days 1 and 2. One thing I determined was that I liked drinking my Shakeology after I worked out. So, I needed to get my workout in early if I was going to have that first thing. I also knew the day had to be planned well, especially since I was going into the office for the whole day. So, I lined up my containers in order of the meals I planned to have while I was away from home. They didn’t all get used, but I had plenty of food with me!

I also was sorer than I have been in years today. I mean let’s just say that I was thankful that the bathroom at work is handicap accessible because that means there is a bar by the toilet. Seriously, every time I would sit down in my chair at work I would count to three to prepare myself for the pain. My co-worker was laughing at me. Well, not really laughing out loud, but I’m sure it was funny. I know it will get better as I get stronger and keep stretching my thigh muscles, but my goodness are the ticked at me right now.

Meal 2: 1 Purple 1 Yellow

Steel Cut Oats

Meal 3: 1 Green 1 Red 1 Yellow 2 Tsp
Grilled Chicken
Roasted Zucchini, Squash, Onion
Brown Rice

FYI – This was REALLY GOOD. I picked up the zucchini, squash and onion mixture already cut at Publix over the weekend. Then, yesterday I roasted it while I was cooking the oatmeal since I had to be near the kitchen then anyway. I just tossed it with olive oil and then sprinkled with salt and a little pepper. So yummy when paired with the chicken David grilled me over the weekend.

Y’all! This is SO GOOD. Like I couldn’t wait to eat it again good. It almost tasted like cheesecake. Well, I mean, a light cheesecake. But, it was so delicious I totally consider it my go-to for dessert now. You’ll be seeing this picture a lot.

21 Day Fix Day 3 Meal 6

Totals for the day:
4 Green (short 1)
3 Purple
4 Red (short 1)
2 Yellow (short 2)
No Blue (short 1)
1 Orange
4 Tsp (short 1)

I was short a green and blue because I didn’t eat the veggies and hummus I had planned to. I just ran out of time.

Workout: Lower Fix (3o min DVD)
I was SERIOUSLY dreading this workout because my legs were so sore. However, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It felt good to stretch everything out. I had to do some of the modifications as these knees have been through A LOT in their 43 years, and squats are not something they do with ease. However, I didn’t fall out and die. So, there is that. I was, however, dripping sweat into my towel.

Takeaways:

  • I still haven’t been able to get in ALL the food. I found this very interesting and briefly talked with my coach about it. She thinks that the reason I hit the weight loss plateau is because I haven’t been eating enough. It’s a thought. I have been eating decently, but nothing like the structured eating I’m doing now. I’ve for sure been eating better since I was before January and #HOHGetsFit began, but I knew I could improve on the nutrition, which is one of the reasons I wanted to do the 21 Day Fix.
  • You need a lot of little containers to do this thing. Like lots of them. That might be its own blog post – the number of containers in my fridge right now is staggering.
