Opening Boxes

For those of you following along, you know that the House of Hills moved this weekend. It was an exciting adventure filled with MANY, MANY boxes. If you’ve ever moved, you know that opening boxes can be both exciting and deflating. Exciting because you find things you forgot you had. Deflating because you now have to find somewhere to put those things!

There was one box that came in the mail right before we moved that I was VERY EXCITED to open! This is what was in it!

Fun right!

We use A LOT of paper products here at the House of Hills. Too many I’m sure. That’s why I’m excited to try Scott Naturals. They are made with recycled fiber. I can be green and use my paper products. Whoop!

Scott Naturals sent me a box of products to test drive. We are testing them out at the House of Hills, and I’ll let you know how it’s going next week. I’m already impressed with the paper towels, but more later.

The coolest thing – Scott Naturals wants you to take a test drive too! In fact, Scott Naturals is providing one of my readers with their very own box of products to try. How fabulous is that!?

To enter the giveaway:

  • Let me know the craziest thing you’ve found in a box when moving.
  • (Additional Entry) Click through and take the pledge to take a 4-week Test Drive. You’ll also be making a donation to the NWF. Then, leave me a comment and let me know you did.

Giveaway winner will be chosen at random on May 13th and the winner notified via email.

Update: Giveaway winner will be chosen on May 9th. I can’t count days apparently.

Disclosure: I was provided with products to review and giveaway and was compensated for this post by Scott Naturals and The Motherhood. However, all opinions are mine.

Moving Day…Again!

Today is MOVING DAY!

Unfortunately, it is not also get Internet at the new house day. So, I’m not sure when I’ll be back. LOL! I can of course blog at the office, but I’m sorta supposed to be working when I’m there.

For those keeping track, yes this is our second move in seven months. However, this time we are moving to stay. We’re moving into our dream cottage and couldn’t be more excited about it! We’ve already moved in a few things, but have got friends and family coming to help us get the big stuff today.

Speaking of friends and family – aren’t they amazing. AMAZING! We couldn’t do this without them. Seriously.

So, say a quick prayer that we get all the difficult stuff moved without incident, that nobody gets hurt, and that it all gets done!

See you soon… from the new home!

Finer Things Friday: Moving In

The purchase of our new home was finalized on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Princess and I moved the majority of the kitchen – just to go ahead and get it over there. I took two pictures of the event – both with my phone – both not amazing. Both bring tears to my eyes. They are seriously “finer things.”

Look closely and you will see the finer things.

1. All those bags – the Princess carried them ALL in herself.
2. All those baskets – the Princess carried them ALL in herself.
3. The box she’s unpacking – my spices. She unpacked, organized and put them all away.

Look closely and you will see the finer things.

1. The Princess unpacked ALL the bags and put things on the shelve.
2. She made groupings of things that “went together”

The Princess was SO MUCH HELP on Wednesday. Seriously! She blew me away. It was definitely a finer thing…

Things I Love Thursday: Keys!!!

Do you know what these are? These are the keys to our new house! And, I LOVE them.

The House of Hills is MOVING AGAIN! Whoop!

Why do I love these keys? I love these keys because they represent some seriously hard work and patience on the part of many people. Our closing DID NOT go easily. There were complications after complications. None of them our fault. All of them frustrating. However, we remained cool (well, outwardly) and calm and trusted that all would work out in His perfect time.

It did.

We are moving Saturday into our amazing cottage.

We are SO HAPPY.

I love these keys.

Top Ten Tuesday: Hardest Things To Move

So, hopefully we are closing on our new house today and moving in on Saturday. Yes, we’re moving again. Yes, that does mean we’re moving twice in seven months. Yes, we are INSANE. Not really, it made sense to us.

Luckily, this time we are literally moving ten minutes away. From door to door it is roughly ten minutes. Eight of those minutes is getting to the front of the neighborhood in which we currently live. Seriously, we’ve timed it. That short a move means that many things will just be taken from one house, thrown in the mini-van, and then put away at the new house. We even have what I’m calling a mini-van brigade happening with some of my friends.

Even with such an “easy” move, there are still things that are hard to move. I will share them with you.

1. An exercise ball. You could deflate it, but then you just have to blow it back up again. I’m cheating and getting rid of those. Of course, I still have to get them to the people who want them.

2. The stuff in the refrigerator. We’re moving ten minutes away. That means all our current fridge contents can go with us. But we’ve got to pack it in a cooler, drive and then unpack it. Pain in the rear! And, one of the fridges is going with us. That means it’s got to be emptied to move first thing in the morning.

3. Washers and Dryers. I am so glad I am not a man when it comes to the washer and the dryer. Nobody expects me to manhandle that thing into it’s proper place. Whew!

4. The open box of pasta in the pantry. Really, is it even worth the risk.

5. Chocolate. I’m in Georgia. Chocolate will melt in the car nine months out of the year. It’s got to be the last thing in the car and the first thing out.

6. TVs. We’ve got this giant screen thing now. How do you move that? Again, glad I’m not a man and therefore not in charge of those!

7. Bathroom Stuff. For one thing, um, some of it can be rather personal. So, you don’t want random acquaintance opening that box for you. Second, there are lotions and soaps and what not that need to remain upright. It must be packed well!

8. Knives and other sharp kitchen things. You put them in the box carefully. You label the box that there are sharp things there. You then stick you hand in the box and bring it out with blood running down your finger. Oh, is that just me? Never you? Oh.

9. The Lego Hogwarts. It’s got to make the trip without falling completely apart. Ya, not sure that’s going to happen.

10. Electronics cords. You put them in a box that you’re sure you’ll remember when you get to the new house. You then spend two hours opening box after box looking for them. Of course, they are in the “last” box you open.

What do you find is the hardest thing to move?
Is there anything you thought you moved but you haven’t found yet?
